We all know people with BPD, although we may not know that scientific label. If I could give this book negative points, I would.īorderline personality disorder (BPD) is a surprisingly common problem, and it often coexists with alcoholism and/or drug addiction. I hope that if the author did have someone with BPD in their life that the person escaped without losing it completely, and pray they later managed to find supportive and understanding friends. ![]() If they wrote it because of personal experience, its obvious that they were bitter, and I'm certain that they failed to be anything other than bullying and judgmental. The presentation is insensitive and closed minded. It all but says "get out while you can" and implies strongly that a BPD person isn't worth loving.įrankly, if I could slap the author I would happily do so. ![]() It focuses on "surviving the ordeal" rather than helping them find ways to cope with the fallout while being loving and supportive. It presents BPD as a burden on the lives of those people "unfortunate" enough to care for someone who has it. It disappeared the next day when he left for work, but the damage was already done. He came home from work to find me reading it and the expression on his face was absolute shame and horror. My heart stopped when I found this book on my now Ex boyfriend's bookshelf. ![]()
